mahj 101: introduction to american mahjong

Mahj 101 is the perfect starting point for anyone new to American Mahjong. In this beginner-friendly class, players learn the fundamentals of the game, including tile recognition, rack setup, game structure, the Charleston, calling tiles, and how to read the National Mah Jongg League (NMJL) card. With clear instruction and hands-on practice, this lesson builds confidence from the very first hand. Whether you’re brand new to the game or need a refresher, Mahj 101 gives you the foundation you need to play American Mahjong with ease.

DESIGNED FOR: beginners (age 13+)
PRICING: $300 for 4 people, $65 for each additional (8 person maximum)

guided play for beginners

Guided Play offers new players a supportive environment to practice what they’ve learned with live, instructor-led gameplay. Each session focuses on reinforcing rules, improving confidence, and walking through real-time scenarios such as calling tiles, selecting hands, Charleston decisions, and scoring. With patient coaching and personalized guidance, this class bridges the gap between learning the rules and playing independently. Ideal for beginners building consistency at the table.

mahj 102: introduction to american mahjong strategy

Take your skills beyond the basics with Mahj 102, designed for players who understand gameplay but want to become more confident and competitive. This session covers essential strategies, including hand selection, tile efficiency, defensive play, knowing when to switch hands, understanding exposures, and managing jokers effectively. Players leave with a stronger sense of decision-making and key skills to winning more often. Recommended for graduates of Mahj 101 or anyone with basic playing experience.

Ideal for new and experienced players who want clarity, confidence, and smoother gameplay during home, club, or tournament play.
